About Gonzales Posted February 3, 2005, By: Doremus Jessup - In a memorandum written by Alberto Gonzales — then the president's attorney and now his nominee for attorney general he said: "The nature of the new war places a high premium on other factors, such as the ability to quickly obtain information from captured terrorists and their sponsors in order to avoid further atrocities against American civilians." Gonzales concluded in stark terms: "In my judgment, this new paradigm renders obsolete Geneva's strict limitations on questioning of enemy prisoners and renders quaint some of its provisions."
In 1941, General-Field Marshal Wilhelm Keitel, the head of Hitler's Wehrmacht- Defense force, formulated an identical argument against recognizing the rights of Soviet soldiers under Geneva Convention laws. During his testimony at the Nuremburg trials, Keitel called the Geneva Convention laws "obsolete", a statement which weighed heavily with U.S. prosecutors who later cited it as an aggravating circumstance in seeking and obtaining the death penalty for Keitel in 1946.
According to the America of 1946, a war criminal that remorselessly justified his murderous actions by denigrating the Geneva Conventions was executed. In the America of 2005, which more resembles World War two Nazi Germany, we no longer see people who denigrate the the Geneva Conventions as war criminals, we promote them.

From My Lai to Abu Ghraib Posted August 13, 2004 Reader Comment - The Vietnam War will always stand as a prime example of US - sponsored terrorism. Using rape, torture, and mass murder the American military killed more than 3 million of the Vietnamese people.
Despite the fact that there was not one military-aged male among the population of My Lai village, American soldiers spent hours methodically murdering the more than 500 women and children who lived there. Teenage girls were brutally raped and then murdered. Women, children, and the elderly were rounded up into groups, forced to squat close to the ground, and then shot and stabbed in the back one by one.
Just as with George W Bush and Abu Ghraib, Republican President Richard Nixon claimed that My Lai was an "isolated incident." Only John Kerry stepped forward to debunk this fantastic lie. Kerry described how United States soldiers "raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blew up bodies, randomly shot civilians and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam."
American corporate and political leaders have a long history of promoting terrorist atrocities and brutal dictatorships throughout the world. From the genocide of Native Americans to the CIA subversion of democratically elected leaders, the US government has committed or directly sponsored more assassinations and covert activities than all other counties combined, establishing it as the single greatest purveyor of war and terrorist acts throughout the world.
Such widespread violence exposes the complete fraud of so-called humanitarian foreign interventions which America always uses as it's hypocritical excuse for invasion. The US government has and will always exert its power abroad to repress democratic challenges to its global corporate empire.

American Caligula - George Bush Posted June 1, 2004 Contributed
By: utoo73@hotmail.com - I am an American. I am working (for the first time) trying to effect a political change in my country. A change in which people like Bush are exposed for what they are. I am VERY disturbed reading this article. But, I have one rule for the information I pass on (whether it be pro or con to my personal position) and it is simply this: Give me the cites, the underlying documentation or public record for your assertions. I am NO FAN of the Shrub. I agree with most of the analysis in this article and am even more appalled upon reviewing your links. I as an American am ashamed that our population has become so "mystified", uneducated and indoctrinated in the "rhetoric" that our truth tellers are often assaulted. In many ways, Americans are being turned into a population not unlike the ones we have declared as our enemies. Our youth are under- educated, unmotivated, unemployed and steeped in religious rhetoric. They are taught that our country was founded on "Christian principals" when nothing could be further from the truth. If they were actually exposed to the "founding fathers words" they would discover there was virulent disdain expressed for Christian dogma from the likes of Jefferson, Adams and Payne. We labor under the "misinformation" meted out by a media that has been consolidated (and controlled) by conservative elements in our country. We few...who seek the truth don't usually find it published here. America is in danger... the danger of religious rhetoric and fascist dogma. We are exhibiting every sign of fascism and it's NOT just the Republican party that brought us here, the Democrats also did their part by "rolling over" with every manipulated poll result. My fervent hope is that the Internet and the inability of any political or governmental agency to control it will help us find our freedom again. Thank you for this very scary information and the cites to back up your assertions. The article, - American_Caligula

"House of Bush, House of Saud," Posted March 19, 2004 Book Review - In his book, "House of Bush, House of Saud," journalist Craig Unger lays out a compelling case that the Bush family is so inextricably bound up with the Saudi royal family that it could not hold them responsible for the role that many Saudi Arabians played in the 9/11 day of terror. The shell game Bush played meant diverting the American public's attention to Iraq, which had no apparent role in 9/11. Although 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi, bin Laden is a member of one of the wealthiest families in Saudi Arabia, and the Saudis financed bin Laden, Bush managed to convince most Americans that the majority of 9/11 hijackers were Iraqi and that Saddam Hussein played a key role in the attack. That's how a political shell game works. Only in this case, thousands of lives were lost in a con job in which the American people were played for suckers by their own leadership. Why did the Bush Cartel allow 140 Saudi citizens, including members of the bin Laden family, to be flown out of the United States, without questioning, at a time when U.S. airspace was closed and when they might have had information useful in unraveling the crime of 9/11? In essence, the Bush Cartel has sold Americans a bill of goods. They have diverted our attention from the major nation state supporting Al-Qaeda because they don't want to attack their own business partners, including the Saudi who bailed Harken Oil out. He's the same guy that was deeply involved with BCCI, the corrupt bank that Poppy Bush and many of his cohorts were associated with. There are plenty more like him. It is hard to put your arms around the gravity of Bush's betrayal of our nation.
Americans just don't want to believe that anyone sitting in the Oval Office, even if unelected, could be a traitor to the interests of his own country. But, when it comes to Saudi Arabia, the Bush family's business interests and personal relationships take precedence over our interests as a nation. Remember, the Bush Cartel censored 28 pages in Congress's 9/11 reports. The subject of those 28 pages was reportedly the Saudi financing of terrorist front organizations and "charities." The answer lies in a hidden relationship that began in the 1970s, when the oil-rich House of Saud began courting American politicians in a bid for military protection, influence, and investment opportunity. With the Bush family, the Saudis hit a gusher -- direct access to presidents Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush. houseofbush

It Is the VETERAN Posted October 31, 2003 Contributed by Dan Dvorak -
It is the VETERAN, not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion. AS LONG AS IT IS THE RELIGION OF THE RIGHT.
It is the VETERAN, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.
UNLESS IT OFFENDS OR EMBARRASSES THIS ADMINISTRATION.
It is the VETERAN, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.
THIS ADMINISTRATION HAS PASSED THE PATRIOT ACT WHICH TAKES THAT RIGHT AWAY.
It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.
THIS ADMINISTRATION NOW LIMITS THE RIGHT TO ASSEMBLE TO TINY SECLUDED "FREE SPEECH ZONES" SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO SEE OR HEAR THE PEOPLE.
It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.
THIS ADMINISTRATION HAS MADE LAWS THAT DON'T EVEN REQUIRE YOU TO BE CHARGED WITH A CRIME TO BE IMPRISONED, AND THEY NEVER HAVE TO GIVE YOU A TRIAL.
It is the VETERAN, not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.
DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH! THIS ADMINISTRATION CONTROLS THE VOTING MACHINES, THE GOVERNORSHIPS AND THE COURTS. 5 MILLION VOTES WERE LOST AND UNCOUNTED IN 2000.
THIS REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION IS TAKING AWAY ALL THESE RIGHTS PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE VETERANS DIED FOR. THAT IS THE TRUTH AND THE TRAGEDY OF THE STATE OF THIS COUNTRY.
UNLESS YOU WANT THE SACRIFICES OF VETERANS TO GO FOR NOTHING, WE MUST RESTORE THIS COUNTRY TO ITS PEOPLE.

An 18 Year Old American Teen Has Figured It Out... Posted May 31, 2003
By: Muscles, Age 18 - Feel free to spread the following rant everywhere, it makes for a good arguement against some idiotic Bush supporter.... In a country where the poor and old cannot afford health care, in a country where the economy is falling apart, in a country where 44 million people live on less than $12,000 dollars a year, in a nation where 5 million people are homeless, in a country where the entire media system is owned by only six media mega conglomerates, in a nation with the highest crime rate, in a country with the world's largest prison population, in a society where 60% of marriages end in divorce, in a country where 25% of kids under 12 live in poverty, in a country that cut 25 billion dollars out of veterans benefits to help pay for a new war, in a country where the gulf between the rich and poor is growing everyday, in a nation that supports dictatorships in Saudi, Egypt, and Turkey, in a country where the government is full of corruption, in a country with the world's highest teen suicide and stress rates, and you're telling me our biggest problems are TERRORISM and DRUGS? BULLSHIT!

republican Draft Dodgers Posted September 20, 2002 Contributed by DoYouEverWonder at gainesvillesun.com - Community Forums. International Business-Alert News Posted July 2, 2002 Contributed by ROSS - Echelon (U.S. Spy Satellite) Asset Forfeiture Agenda The European Parliament wants to pass a "regulation" that will allow EC governments to spy on and keep copies of everyone's electronic communications. This is not just an invasion of privacy, but a backdoor to seize property from citizens for what they may appear to have said during an electronic communication. Government misinterpretation of a single communication can cause imprisonment and/or forfeiture of an innocent owner's home or business interest. The U.S. Congress in 2000, in affect did away with the statute of limitations for civil forfeiture. Any electronic communications can now be drugged up in the future by a government to blackmail people and/or seize their home or business using only an alleged "preponderance of evidence." Intellectual-property is at risk since any European or a U.S. jurisdiction can claim a violation could subject an asset to forfeiture. In 2000 the U.S. and Europe created over 400 additional violations that can subject property to asset forfeiture.

Central Europe's Bangkok Posted April 5, 2002 britskelisty.cz By Andrew Stroehlein - It's always interesting to see how other countries view the Czech Republic. From an article in The British Telegraph on Sunday entitled "Czech gangs kidnap women as sex slaves", it seems that the image of the Czech Republic abroad is not all it could be. Prague is getting the reputation of "Central Europe's Bangkok". But the British reporter did not invent that label. Those are the words of the head of the Prague police vice squad: Major Petr Vosolsobe. He pointed out to the reporter that Prague alone has 300 brothels holding some 15,000 prostitutes, and discussed the sex slave industry in the Czech Republic in general. Czech police estimate that about 70% of all missing women between the ages of 10 and 40 have been abducted and sold into sex slavery. That adds up to thousands of women. Thousands. No one knows who will be the next to go missing, and few can say where she will end up. The article in the Telegraph also highlights the efforts of Eva Tomanova, a Czech researcher who works with women who have escaped from the underworld of sexual slavery. The stories the escapees tell of repeated rape, brutal beatings and torture are stomach-turning. Tomanova is developing a relatively clear picture of this underworld. Czech girls are abducted right off the street and sold to various buyers at slave auctions. Sometimes the buyers are local Czech pimps who force girls to work the sex tourists in Czech brothels. They are kept locked up and prevented from escaping through violence and threats of violence not only in "the Central European Bangkok" of Prague, but also in the border regions. Other abducted girls are sold to foreign buyers and simply disappear forever.

Job 4:8 As I have observed, those who plow evil and those who sow trouble reap it.

"There can be no neutrality," warns Bush Posted March 11, 2002 Contributed by the Editor - President George W Bush has taken a coercive tone with countries his administration wants to involve in America's war against terrorism. Other dictators of the past have also brought the world to war and they too arrogantly stated "you are either for me or against me," ignoring the third option of peace. On C-Span, they posed the question, "What would you consider a victory over terrorism to be?" Some people, mostly republicans said, "victory would come when we kill all the members of Al-Qaeda." Others said "when all terrorists in the world are killed." I tried to call C-Span, but failed to get through. I wanted to tell them that we will never know victory over terrorism through the use of violence and cruelty, those things fuel terrorism. Only when the true cause of terrorism is removed will America and the world know victory over terrorism. Only when there is not exploitation, corruption, injustice, and murder of innocents can we stop terrorism. As the governments of the world continue along their cruel and greedy course which grinds up human life and destroys the earth, there will be more children who will grow up in poverty filled with hatred and revenge. As long as the rich and powerful continue to exploit the poor and leave them but two choices in life, to die in abject poverty or to die fighting that system which enslaves them, there will be terrorism. If Bush truly wants to be victorious over terrorism he should try dropping food instead of bombs. Instead of leaflets filled with psychotic threats he should drop translated copies of the United States constitution. Instead of exporting "death and violence to the four corners of the earth", as Bush has promised to do, we should seek out people to educate and lift up. Wherever our bombs have created orphans in the Middle East we should build orphanages and support those children or groups like Alkida will. War and killing only breeds hate and more war and killing. Bush and Chainey's way is wrong. It's against God it's against the Constitution it's against humanity and it's against the earth. I wanted to tell C-Span that Americans must wake up. This path of war and death we have chosen as a country can only end in our destruction.

Wal-Mart and the Waltons got to the top the old-fashioned way: Posted March 1, 2002 Contributed by the TERRY - by roughing people up. Their low, low prices are the product of two ruthless commandments: Extract the last penny possible from human toil and squeeze the last dime from its thousands of suppliers, who are left with no profit margin unless they adopt the Wal-Mart model of using nonunion labor and shipping production to low-wage hellholes abroad. thenation.com / walmartyrs.org / walmartwatch.com

A young woman who lived in Shahrara Posted January 20, 2002 amnesty.org Contributed by FRAN - Several Afghan refugees recalled the plight of a young woman who lived in Shahrara district of Kabul in early 1994. "Her husband had been killed in a bomb attack. She had three children of between two and nine years old. One day she leaves her children to go and find some food. Two Mujahideen armed guards arrest her in the street and take her to their base in a house where 22 men rape her for three days. She is then allowed to go. When she reaches her home she finds her three children have died of hypothermia. She has now lost her sanity and lives in Peshawar."

The republican Supreme Court struck another devastating blow against the American people Posted January 10, 2002 Contributed by the Editor - In their ruling which weakens the "Americans with Disabilities Act" The republican Supreme Court has found a way to prevent many individuals whom Congress intended the "Americans with Disabilities Act" (ADA) to cover, from receiving their Social Security disability benefits, however there will be more money available for the richest 1% in the form of a 500 billion dollar tax giveaway. Bush calls this robbery of the peoples Social Security trust fund his "economic-stimulus package." This massive withdrawal from the fund will further destabilize the fund giving Bush the excuse to privatize / loot the fund. All of the wealthy individuals who will receive the peoples Social Security money in this obscene and down right mean spirited corporate raid are already very wealthy and don'y need the money. Many have doubled and tripled their cash worth in the past eight years. This isn't about need, it's about greed and power. Bush said he likes the way things are done in Mexico, where 98% of the population is so beaten down and impoverished they only think of how to survive, voting and politics are almost beyond them. Without a Social Security system we to will know the poverty of a two class third world hell.

Their dying effort to despoil our wilderness Posted January 2, 2002 Contributed by the Editor - Spencer Abraham, Energy Secretary for The Bush administration announced a new partnership between the federal government and domestic auto makers to promote the development of a hydrogen refueling infrastructure. The new clean hydrogen car technology signals the end for the dirty old Henry Ford era cars and the oil companies which have dominated our civilization and caused global warming. There is very little oil, less than a six month supply in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, and it will take years to get it out of the ground. By the time we have extracted the oil and irreparably damaged the last unspoiled regions of our country, the gas guzzler cars will have gone the way of the horse drawn buggy. Ironically the oil companies continue to enjoy the full support of the Bush White House in their dying effort to despoil our wilderness areas and milk as much profit out of the American people as possible. Sadly helping the rich get richer seems to be more important than our environment and our children's future.

Unanimous 100 to 0 Senate Vote Ignored Posted December 24, 2001 Contributed by the BILL SMITH - The bill to make airport screeners into federal employees passed by an amazing Senate vote of 100 to 0, with lawmakers agreeing that aviation security was also a national security issue which should not be left to the profit driven private security corporations. Private companies receive little if any oversight, as a result, workers are often paid $6 or $7 an hour. Annual turnover ranges from 100 percent to 400 percent and screeners are poorly trained, according to a recent report by the General Accounting Office, the investigative arm of Congress. Asked whether Mr. Bush would veto the Senate bill to make the screeners into federal employees, *Transportation Secretary Norman Y. Mineta said the republican House would prevent the bill from ever reaching the president's desk. President Bush stated that he wants to continue to use the same abusive corporate security companies. One must ask the question; If a unanimous Senate vote of 100 to 0 can be ignored, do we still live in a democracy?
*"I will look at each piece of legislation when it makes it to my desk," -Bush

Animals Fed a Strict Diet of Microwave Foods Quickly Perished Posted November 28, 2002 Contributed by ARTHUR - "Ever wonder about your precious microwave? It heats food not by convection, but by bombarding the food with high energy electromagnetic waves. Not natural to the environment, they can and do twist molecules into shapes totally foreign to the body and not found in nature. Among these are trans-fatty acids with the "wrong handed-ness." All natural amino acids are what we call left handed in their three dimensional structure. Microwave energy can twist them into right-handedness, not found in nature and potentially highly toxic to the body. Recommendation: Heat your food conventionally or via a convection oven rather than via microwaves. I have seen unpublished data that laboratory animals fed a strict diet of microwaved foods quickly perished." From the book: Your First Consultation With Dr. Rowen - Second Opinion Publishing.

Our So Called Democracy Has Become a Corporation Posted November 14, 2002 Contributed by the Editor - Bush gives 2.13 trillion to the military industrial complex and 600 Billion to the rich in a grand liquidation of our Social Security and Medicare trust funds. We have seen sweeping job cuts across a range of US industries and the biggest rise in unemployment for two decades. Industrial output is at it's lowest level in nearly 11 years with the longest string of monthly declines since the Great Depression. In less than a year the Bush administration has put America into a federal deficit likely to last until 2005.
All will be sacrificed to the rich and powerful in this mad republican cash grab. 'Now' is the reason corporations like ENRON rigged the presidential election. This is the time when America will be taken down to the lowest level by corruption, greed, arrogance, and ignorance. Since Bush was appointed president the "government of the people" has become the government of big business. Now caring about our environment is considered radical extremism. The term "faith-based" has come to mean "Christians only." The republicans have twisted the concept of "consensus building" into telling everyone else that their ideas are wrong and only conservative ideas are right. Our so called "education president" wants to privatize education. The term "Energy policy," under the Bush administration means ignore alternate fuel sources and drill for oil. The "will of the people" has been superseded by the will of the Supreme Court. What the republicans call "tax reform," is a massive tax giveaway to corporations and the rich. The term "liberal" is now used like an insult, as if liberty and freedom are subversive ideas. Although they call themselves conservatives they seek to bankrupt Social Security and exploit the earth's resources without regard for the future. The republicans consider "sex" a "high crime" when connected with Democrats, but a "misdemeanor" when connected with themselves. Our "smaller government" under Bush is actually big government ruled by a small group of corporations. Political freedom has given way to guilt by association. Due process has given way to secret detentions and secret trials. Equal protection under the law has given way to ethnic profiling. Now, under Bush defending civil liberties is considered "a communist plot" and health care for all is "a socialist plot."
No country can defeat us militarily yet we have already fallen. Write to your congressman brothers and sisters and pray for our America, she is sick and needs our help.

Legal Drugs Kill 200,000 Americans Each year! Posted November 9, 2001 Contributed by ARTHUR - A different perspective on September 11. Last winter the Journal of the American Medical association (JAMA) published every year, that the FDA approved doctor prescribed drugs, kill 125,000 people, more than a jumbo jet full of people crashing every day. If A jumbo Jet crashed every day the Federal Aviation Administration would ground all jumbo jets instantly. JAMA amended their original figure to say "If over the counter drugs are included, the figure rises to about 200,000 people. "Why does Washington not rein in the drug corporations and the Food and Drug Administration who value corporate profits more than human lives? Let's fight a legal war against the FDA and the drug corporations instead of the Taliban. They would be easier to find and it would be much cheaper than trying to fight the nations of Islam. We could save allot of money and lives.
