Politics and Health (again or still)

By: R. S. Brown

Who is watching out for your health while “they” are watching out for themselves and their profits?
America, the land of the drugged.
50% - of our total population is taking at least one prescription drug and most are using three or more. A large part of the remaining 50% is self-medicating with non prescribed legal and “non-legal” drugs/chemicals. The total tonnage of chemicals/drugs produced, prescribed, purchased and consumed in the U.S. is large. Visualize a billion prescription bottles and other drug paraphernalia in a large pile/mountain.

What is Wrong With Joe Lieberman? Is He Hallucinating or Lying?

By: Kevin Zeese

In an op-ed in The Wall Street Journal on November 28, Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-CT) put forward an argument for staying the course in Iraq. Of course, his argument in “Our Troops Must Stay” was filled with false information.

Lieberman describes “real progress” and “self-securing nationhood.” What are the facts? Rep. Murtha laid them out clearly saying the “war in Iraq is not going as advertised” and, more specifically:

THE TRUTH FROM OUR OWN SOLDIERS ABOUT IRAQ: Letters and audio from soldiers speaking out

Ongoing Quest for the Many Manifestations of Bigfoot, Review and Commentary on Mike Palecek's Latest Novel

By: Jason Miller

"George Bush is a liar AND a loose gun for hire." I found it so refreshing to read these affirmations of truth on the cover of Mike Palecek's latest novel, Looking for Bigfoot. Palecek's "irreverent" novel is a potent attack on almost everything which is perverse, depraved, immoral, and malevolent about the US government and the society which it creates and perpetuates (through the public education system and its subservient corporate media). The search for Bigfoot which Jack Robert King, the novel's protagonist, undertakes is a metaphorical quest for the truth behind the deteriorating facade of the United States as a benevolent super power which spreads freedom and liberty around the globe.

Another second place ribbon for Bush & Rumsfeld

By: Ira Jesse Hemingway

Just recently on November 18, 2005 the republican led congress came unglued with their mantra of 9/11 over the suggestion by Congressman John P. Murtha of Pennsylvania to turn Iraqi over to their newly formed democracy that our mission had been completed. To take this new spark of freedom and radiate it to the world by leaving mom’s tit and taking the first minimum step of controlling their on destiny with out foreign forces present. Yet it was the republicans led spectacle that day with a constant reference by the congress, of we must avenge 9/11 we can not leave until the job is done. The following is from a speech by George W. Bush on September 20, 2001 to a joint session of congress. In the excerpts is the initial plan on retaliation for 9/11/2001.

The Big Thaw: Global Disaster Will Follow If the Ice Cap on Greenland Melts

Greenland's glaciers have begun to race towards the ocean, leading scientists to predict that the vast island's ice cap is approaching irreversible meltdown, The Independent on Sunday can reveal.

Research to be published in a few days' time shows how glaciers that have been stable for centuries have started to shrink dramatically as temperatures in the Arctic have soared with global warming. On top of this, record amounts of the ice cap's surface turned to water this summer.

A few days ago I watched the documentary, “9-11 In Plane Sight”. On two occasions while watching this documentary I uttered the words, "Murderers, mass murderers". By: Ted Lang

I asked Dr. Daniel Ellsberg this question on Tuesday, November 15th, after he had just completed his lecture to instructors, professors, students and members of the public that were in attendance to hear him speak at William Patterson University in Wayne, New Jersey: Dr. Ellsberg, which bomb do you think will go off first – Fitzgerald bringing another indictment, or the military attack on Syria and Iran? His answer was frightening – he offered that the war would probably come first, initiated in all likelihood as an engineered distraction to negate the effect of the expected upcoming indictments.

”Extraordinary rendition” -The hunt for ”Mister Bob” and the 18 bastards

By: Fausto Giudice

Translated from French by Ragnar B. Johannessen

The story that you are about to read is a true one. It’s a story about the kidnapping of a 39 year old Eyptian on February 17, 2003, by a team of CIA agents. This happened in the middle of Milan.

Nasr Oussama Mustafa Hassan (alias Abu Omar), who was a native of Alexandria, had obtained political asylum in Italy in 2001. He had been arrested in Egypt in 1993 for political reasons. He had wrongly been assumed to be an imam of the Islamic center on the Jenner boulevard in Milan, and had simply been noticed because he had led the prayers at the other mosque, on Quaranta street in Milan. His kidnapping was followed by an”extraordinary rendition” to the Egyptian secret services in Cairo (Mabahith Amn Al Dawla). We have not heard from Abu Omar in over a year. At worst, he is dead. At best, he languishes in an Egyptian prison.

Douglas Forrester’s loss to public office purchaser, Jon Corzine, the three-year Senator from New Jersey who just bought the New Jersey governorship employing his tremendous wealth, had little to do with the notoriety of Bush and his “Pearl Harbor of the 21st century.” New Jersey is a “yellow dog” Democratic state; no analytical thinking or honest evaluation of either issues or candidates is allowed anywhere within the state on Election Day - Democrats are a shoo-in!

Who would Jesus torture?

By: David Batstone

Christians of strong religious faith and sound moral conscience often end up in disagreement. Human affairs are a messy business, unfortunately, and even at the best of times we only see through a glass, darkly.

It is hard for that reason to call Christians to a universal standard of behavior. At this moment, however, we cannot afford to dilute the message of Jesus into meaningless ambiguity. There are certain acts that a follower of Jesus simply cannot accept. Here is one: A Christian cannot justify the torture of a human being.

Never in the 229 years of United States history has this government “of, by and for the people” been in greater peril. Not during the Civil War, not during the great depression, and not during the Second World War or the Cold War which followed.

Until today, gross incompetence, abuse of power, corruption, corporatocracy, and federal insolvency could be checked and reversed by balanced and separated governmental powers, and at the ballot box by a citizenry informed and provoked by an alert and independent media. Now all branches of government and the mainstream media are dominated by the wealthy elites in control of a single political party.
