I now firmly believe that voting is pointless. Although I've been a loyal
Republican for forty years, and have voted in all elections with the exception
of the 14 years following Richard M. Nixon's resignation from office under the
threat of impeachment, I reiterate that there isn't a dime' s worth of
difference between Democrats and Republicans, or between Bush and Kerry. But if
one must continue to yield to the bad habit of voting, founded as always upon
the principle of choosing the lesser of two evils, then by all means, vote for
John Kerry.

9-11 Commission Omissions

On Thursday June 17, 2004 the ‘National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United
States’,1 or the so-called ‘9 -11 Commission’, held its final open hearing concerning the outrageous events of September 11, 2001. Rather than a full and complete disclosure of the circumstances surrounding the terrorist attacks and the actions of those involved, the 9-11 Commission has conducted a whitewash.
Although the 9-11 Commission has exposed the glaring lack of any tangible connection between Sadam Hussein, Iraq and the terrorist attacks, it has also omitted questions from the investigation, which have served to protect the Bush administration.
The Commission is telling the world that the United States was wholly unprepared for the kind of attacks, that occurred on September 11, 2001. According to Commission Director Philip
Zelikow, “On the morning of 9-11, the existing protocol was unsuited in every respect for what was about to happen. What ensued was the hurried attempt to create an improvised defense by officials who had never encountered or trained against the situation they
faced.”2
The Commission members were either unaware or unconcerned that existing Department of Defense protocol for dealing with ‘Derelict Airborne Objects’, aircraft piracy - (hijacking), had recently been rewritten by the Bush administration. The Commission wasn’t asking questions about who had changed the protocol or why, and it didn’t seem to matter that the previous protocol had been working extremely
well.3
On October 25, 1999 A Learjet took off from Orlando, Florida carrying professional golfer Payne Stewart and five others passengers. Six minutes after takeoff
Air Traffic Controllers in Jacksonville, Florida noticed that Stewart's plane had deviated from it’s approved
flight plan and was climbing rapidly. After the ATC tried unsuccessfully for three minutes to radio the pilot, Federal Aviation Administration officials notified the military of the
apparent threat.
Pentagon officers on the Joint Chiefs of Staff immediately began to monitor the Learjet on radar screens inside the Pentagon's National Military Command Center. An AWACS radar control plane and
several Air Force and Air National Guard fighters also monitored the Learjet. Federal Aviation Administration radar screens continued to track the jet as it flew toward North and South Dakota. As a simple precautionary measure military officials ordered two armed Air Force F-16 fighter planes on the ground in Fargo North Dakota to be placed on alert status in case the Learjet threatened the city of Fargo.
Within fifteen minutes of taking off from Orlando, Florida this rather obscure flight, which had deviated from it’s approved flight plan was suddenly the center of
attention. Fighter planes stood ready in the air and on the ground to shoot the little passenger jet down should
the order be given. According to Pentagon spokesman Ken Bacon "The main issue was figuring out where it was
going." Once the Pentagon officials new the Learjet was headed north toward the Dakotas and not into a major city it wasn’t necessary to inform the president, or as Bacon said, "We didn't have to deal with other options."
According to Susan Coughlin, an aviation analyst for CNN, speaking about shooting down Payne Stewart’s flight, "If the president's advisors had advised him that this airplane was a threat to other aircraft, our national security, or populations on the ground, they might have been justified to make that kind of a
decision."4 In the case of Payne Stewart's flight it was never necessary for the President to issue the final order. After flying out of control for 1,500 miles the plane nose-dived into a field in South Dakota. There were no survivors.
On May 30, 2001 Tom White, a former Enron executive, was appointed by the Bush administration to be Secretary of the Army, and more importantly the "executive agent for the Department of Defense". The next day on June 1st, Tom White radically altered existing DOD protocols and issued a new DOD directive placing all decision-making powers, specifically in the case of 'Derelict Airborne Objects', under the control of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. Having served his purpose, White was eventually fired by Rumsfeld, allegedly for disagreeing about a weapons
system.5
The 9-11 Commission has failed to ask Donald Rumsfeld, George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice, and others many key questions concerning the mass murder of over 2800 Americans in New York on September 11, 2001. Perhaps the most glaring of these questions is: Why, after the FAA alerted the military concerning the grave threats posed by the hijacked airline flights, was the Air Force prevented from responding?
As a simple matter of procedure the armed services were contacted by the FAA and
ATC on 9-11-01. Air Force spokesman confirmed that alerts and requests for intercepts of the aircraft were received, but orders from the highest level of the executive branch of the federal government demanded that the Air Force stand down and not follow through with old established scramble/intercept procedures until further
notice.6
Just a cursory examination of President Bush’s actions prior to, and during that fateful day raises many other disturbing questions. Bush was briefed on the danger of terrorist attacks involving the use of US airliners as weapons six weeks before September 11th, 2001, and it seems he took no
action.7 The White House had certainly received numerous warnings from many foreign intelligence agencies concerning a possible attack. As early as June 2001 the National Security Agency's Echelon electronic spy network notified Washington that Middle Eastern terrorists were planning on hijacking commercial aircraft to be used as weapons against important American
interests.8
A July 10th, 2001 memo to FBI headquarters from a Phoenix FBI agent warned of Arabs attending U.S. flight schools and urged an investigation, but his recommendation was
ignored.9 The CIA warned the Bush administration on August 6th, 2001 that Al Qaeda planned to hijack US planes, but they took no
action.10 The Bush administration disregarded information from
German,11 Russian,12
Jordanian,13 Moroccan,14
Israeli,15 and Egyptian,16 intelligence agencies all in August, all warning of an impending terrorist attack. Then inexplicably, the White House allowed government counter terrorism agencies to "stand down" from the highest level of alert on August 6th, 2001 despite repeated warnings from CIA director George
Tenet.17
Supposedly, word of the tragedy first came to President Bush in the hallway of an
Elementary School in Sarasota, Florida at 8:46 a.m., only one minute after American Airlines Flight 11 out of Boston, Massachusetts, had crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center. Bush was then escorted to an empty classroom where he spoke briefly by phone with National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice. After his conversation Bush proceeded to visit with the children. At 9:04 a.m., while Bush listened to second-graders reading, staff chief Andrew H. Card Jr. whispered in his ear that a second plane had struck the south tower of the World Trade Center. With a third plane off course and headed for Washington D.C., Bush continued to visit with the second-graders, smiling, he commented, “These are great readers, very impressive, thank you for showing me your reading skills. I bet they
practiced”.18 Strangely, Bush waited until 10 a.m., when he was aboard Air Force One, to call Cheney, however by 9:43 a.m., American Airlines Flight 77 had already crashed into the
Pentagon.19
The 9-11 Commission wasn’t interested in knowing why our Commander and Chief, after being told of the first plane striking the World Trade Center, continued to visit with school children. Why did Bush wait an hour and fifteen minutes to contact Cheney instead of Rumsfeld when it is Rumsfeld who is supposedly in charge of ‘Derelict Airborne Objects’?
In September 2003, Erik Kirschbaum with (Reuters) in Pirmasens, Germany, reported that German computer experts were working round the clock to unlock the truth behind an unexplained surge in financial transactions made just before two hijacked planes crashed into New York's World Trade Center on September
11, 2001. German-based firm Convar a world leader in data retrieval used a pioneering laser scanning technology to find data on damaged computer hard drives and main frames found in the rubble of the World Trade Center. Convar recovered information from 32 computer hard drives supporting assumptions that certain entities were forewarned about the 9-11 event. "There is a suspicion that some people had advance knowledge of the approximate time of the plane crashes in order to move out amounts exceeding $100 million," Richard Wagner, a data retrieval expert at the company said. "They thought that the records of their transactions could not be traced after the main frames were
destroyed."20
The 9-11 Commission wasn’t interested in knowing; who the account holders were that transferred millions of dollars out of the
World Trade Center just before the attack, or why Condoleezza Rice told Willie Brown Not To Fly On September
11.21 It didn’t matter to them that the National Military Command Center operations director asked a substitute to stand his watch at 8:30 am on September
11.22 They didn’t bother to investigate firemen’s claims that bombs were set off in the
buildings.23/24 And the Commission never found out why the Bush administration authorized the flights of numerous Saudi Arabian citizens, including members of Osama bin Laden’s family, from the United States immediately after the attacks of September
11.25 There are nunerous questions, which the 9-11 Commission
failed to ask, questions that could have revealed the truth behind the attacks.
